A business is born

Two life-long friends and respected colleagues, Ravi and Sanjay — both computer scientists — launch a Minneapolis/St. Paul-based technology company for helping businesses optimize revenue amidst unpredictable demand fluctuations, initially focusing on the airline industry.

1990

Northwest Airlines partnership

This major international carrier chooses IDeaS to provide the world’s first network optimizer for airline revenue management, greatly enhancing the airline’s bottom-line performance.

IDeaS invents “Bid Price” concept

Other industry-standard concepts would follow, including Hurdle Rate and Last Room Value (LRV). The IDeaS system was also first to support Best Available Rate (BAR), Group Pricing and Evaluations. These terms, methodologies and analytical frameworks have come to be recognized as staples in the industry.
