At IDeaS, growth is more than a career path or a corporate ladder. It’s part of how we build stronger teams, support our clients, and contribute to the future of hospitality revenue management.
That commitment comes to life in many ways. Whether it’s through our range of development programs for our team members or through education initiatives that expand access to revenue management learning across the industry, we believe that when people have the right opportunities to learn, practice and lead, everyone benefits.
Professional development at IDeaS is rooted in both opportunity and readiness. From high-potential programming to courses focused on public speaking and leadership development, these experiences help team members stretch beyond their day-to-day responsibilities while gaining tools they can apply immediately.
Here’s a little bit about our programs, and what our team members have had to say about them:
Leadership Matters
The Leadership Matters program gives team members an honest, behind-the-scenes look at what people management really involves before they decide whether that path is right for them. It emphasizes making an informed career choice and helps team members understand both the rewards and realities of managing people. The program combines workshops with discussion sessions led by IDeaS leaders, giving participants both structured learning and practical, company-specific insight.
“The program is designed to support you every step of the way. You find a welcoming community and experienced mentors who are dedicated to helping you succeed. Investing in this program is investing in yourself – I experienced that.”
Learn & Lead
The Learn & Lead program is focused on building leadership capability from wherever team members are today—whether they lead projects, interactions, or teams. With a blend of diagnostic assessments, individual and peer coaching, and workshops, participants better understand their personal leadership style and how to adapt it for greater impact.
“I’ve learned a lot about myself. For example, my communication and collaboration styles. But my growth from this program has really just begun, and I anticipate that will continue as I incorporate more of what I’ve learned.”
Top Talent
The Top Talent program is designed to identify, nurture, and prepare emerging leaders across IDeaS. The program utilizes a highly intentional, tailored approach as participants are supported based on their experience level and professional needs. Spanning over 12–15 months, the program combines mentorship, professional coaching, formal education, and deeper business insight, making it more than a typical leadership course.
“By exposing me to diverse business functions and providing outstanding personal coaching, the Top Talent program expanded my understanding of the organization and opened up new opportunities for me to contribute beyond my immediate role.”
Targeted Development Opportunities
Beyond formal cohorts, IDeaS also offers targeted development opportunities that help team members build practical skills. Programs and courses such as Presenting with Impact Foundations, the Everyday AI series, product education, data analytics, meeting management, and more focus on supporting team members who lead in many different ways.
This investment in our team matters. Strong communication, thoughtful leadership and continuous learning are essential in a field that is constantly evolving. By supporting team members as they build these skills, IDeaS helps create a deeper bench of talent ready for what’s next.
Extending Education Beyond IDeaS
That same commitment to learning extends beyond IDeaS team members. Education has long been part of how IDeaS gives back to the hospitality community, helping current and future revenue leaders access knowledge that can shape their careers and strengthen the industry as a whole.
IDeaS offers Revenue Management Foundations, a selection of free self-guided educational courses designed to familiarize learners with key foundational concepts such as forecasting, inventory management, and demand-based pricing. The course supports students, professionals refreshing their knowledge, and anyone looking to better understand the discipline of revenue management.
IDeaS’ commitment to learning is also reflected in its longstanding relationship with the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), one of the hospitality industry’s leading organizations focused on education, professional development, and thought leadership. The partnership creates opportunities for team members to expand their expertise through professional certifications, industry research, networking, and leadership experiences while also helping IDeaS contribute to the advancement of the hospitality profession.
Today, around 86 IDeaS team members hold a combined 101 HSMAI certifications spanning over the key commercial disciplines. IDeaS team members also actively participate in HSMAI at local and regional levels. Our experts regularly share insights at HSMAI events, including the organization’s annual Commercial Strategy Conference, helping hospitality professionals navigate emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities.
“IDeaS has been a huge part of my HSMAI journey. As a student leader and President of the HSMAI chapter at UW-Stout, my 2022 internship at IDeaS helped me see the impact HSMAI could have on my career. That experience inspired me to stay involved, and today I’m proud to work at IDeaS while serving as Secretary and Treasurer of the HSMAI Minnesota Chapter Board.”
Creating Pathways into Revenue Management
Revenue management has grown into a critical field for hospitality organizations around the world. But 30 years ago, before IDeaS was founded, it was a new idea.
“When we started in the revenue management of hotels, it did not exist as a discipline,” Sanjay Nagalia, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Technology Officer, said. “And as the concepts got more prevalent, I’ve seen ‘Revenue Manager’ as a job, ‘Director of Revenue’ as a job, and now ‘Chief Commercial Officer’. So, we have ultimately managed to transform the hotel industry to behave and act very differently.”
As the field continues to evolve, so does the need for strong commercial leaders who understand both the science and strategy behind smarter decision-making. By investing in education, certification opportunities, and industry learning, IDeaS aims to help open doors for people who may be discovering revenue management for the first time or those ready to take the next step in their careers. These efforts support a broader community of professionals who will help lead the future of hospitality.
A Shared Commitment to Growth
Whether through an internal leadership program or an external educational opportunity, each investment reflects our larger purpose: helping people grow in ways that strengthen their careers and the industry around them.
At IDeaS, supporting talent is not limited to the people already within the organization. It is also about helping build a community of confident, capable commercial leaders who will shape what comes next.
